Medical Examination by a General Practitioner

General

The Medical Examination:
  • is performed by a General Practitioner (GP).
  • generally takes 30-60minutes to complete
  • may be conducted in a Medical Clinic, or at the applicant's home or workplace depending on location and availability of qualified Pathrec personnel.
Procedure

The Medical Examination has 2 parts:
  • medical questionnaire (your medical history and that of your immediate family)
  • physical examination.
If a TeleCheck (Tele-underwriting interview) has been carried out beforehand by a Pathrec Registered Nurse, the time required for the examination is significantly reduced:
  • only the physical examination is required
  • the TeleCheck interview is made available to the Pathrec doctor to inform and aid preparation for the examination.
During the physical examination, measurements will be taken of the applicant including:
  • height
  • weight
  • blood pressure
  • chest and abdomen
Preparation

A urine sample will also be required at the time of the examination. Applicants will need to drink at least two glasses of water prior to their appointment, to ensure they are well hydrated. Urine is tested for Blood, Sugar and Protein.
"Pathrec has streamlined the whole underwriting process. Our clients aren't inconvenienced and the business is processed far more rapidly."
