PMAR
Personal Medical Attendants Report
GeneralThe Personal Medical Attendants Report (PMAR) or Attending Physicians Report/Statement (APR/APS) is required when the application has indicated a medical condition which needs to be clarified, and is obtained from the applicant's attending doctor.
Procedure
If a TeleCheck (Tele-underwriting interview) has been carried out beforehand by a Registered Pathrec Nurse, enough information may already have been gathered. If so, a PMAR may not be required. In any case, the need or otherwise for a PMAR is at the discretion of the Insurer.
The applicant needs to sign an authority for Pathrec to source the PMAR from his/her attending doctor, which is organised at the time of the Telecheck interview.
Pathrec can either:
- write to the doctor and request the report by mail
- make an appointment for a teleconference with the doctor, which is recorded digitally and placed on the applicants file
"Pathrec has streamlined the whole underwriting process. Our clients aren't inconvenienced and the business is processed far more rapidly."
